Solar Energry in Schools

Name of Kozhikode will be indelibly inscribed in the pages of history shortly.

Kozhikode is about to achieve the unique distinction of being declared as the first District Panchayath in India as the highest producer of solar power. In the current year we plan to install solar panels in 44 High schools which will generate 47 KW of energy equal to 5,80,000 units of electricity. Installation of solar panel in 4 schools have already been completed. There will be a saving to the tune of 1.5 crore by way of electricity when the following impending solar projects are completed. They are :- District Panchayath office, Vatakara Dt. Hospital, Zilla Ayurveda Hospital, Zilla homoeo Hospital, agricultural farms at Koothali,Perambra, Puthupady,Thikkody and Poultry Farm at Chathamangalam. Expenditure for this KSEB project is estimated to be 3.5 crores. Tender formalities for the above projects are completed and are expected to be functional by April 2018.
